Like all the great movies, casting is the key...

My first few attempts at casting with the Cabuya were absolutely comical - I can see why they included the practice casting ball. Now, with not that much practice, I'm really starting to get the hang of it. I added a split shot about 12 inches above the practice ball and I can get 30 to 40 foot casts fairly consistently and this is with about 1 to 1.5 hours of total practice time.

However, I think one of the biggest advantages of the Cabuya hand caster is in it's ability to reel in the bigger fish. I have watched many users of the more traditional "Hobo style hand casters" struggle to keep everything in its right place ( especially the fishing line ) when all their attention is focused on landing that big one. It was this one small reeling detail that drew me to the Cabuya, I just think it's a more sensible system.

But all of this is just theoretical conjecture until I can land that 30 pound Northern Pike and substantiate my theories. Wish me luck...

PS. I think I'll have to upgrade the included fishing line ;^)

I have never used this particular manufacturers product, but I have used identical ones and they are fantastic. For someone who wants to be able to throw a small fishing kit into their glove compartment or a backpack, These things are just what the doctor ordered.
