I'm a relentless tinker with a deep passion for the outdoors, wilderness survival, and primitive living skills. I love making and modifying my gear which led to the creation of the Emberlit Stove back in 2011. It was my first idea to grow from my garage and venture out into the world. It was that stove that launched MerkWares.
The name "MerkWares" is just a play on my last name and could be interpreted as "Stuff I Make". The "M" in the MerkWares logo incorporates the symbols of Tooth and Talon. Signifying that though God did not bless us with such intrinsic tools as other creatures to cope with the natural environment we have been given the capacity to make our own, so to speak.
I still work out of my garage tinkering and developing ideas with the goal of designing tools and gear that enhance the wilderness experience by encouraging meaningful interaction with the natural world. In my opinion, a good outing means coming home with dirt under your nails and the smell of campfire in your clothes.
