Emberlit Flint and Steel - Stone for Striking

We'll send you a couple pieces of chert, agate, quarts, novaculite, or jasper to use with your Steel Striker (we've got a big bin of various stone). Use caution when handling them as some may be really sharp. But this is what you want. A sharp stone scrapes the best sparks from the steel.

Finding "Flint" in your area:

Many types of stone will throw sparks from our strikers. A general term for such stone is Chert or Flint.

Look for stone that has a smooth ceramic look and feel to it. It should fracture into flakes when struck. Some places have suitable stone in abundance where others will have very little. Carry your Flint and Steel Striker with you when out and about and experiment with various stones found in your area. You may be surprised by what you find.

Great stones, outstanding customer service!!

First off there was a problem with my order, I emailed in and in less that 24 hours I received a response and a commitment to correct the error. The missing items from my order were in the mail and a new tracking number was supplied promptly. The tracking link provided is updated quickly, accurately and with in a few days the missing stones had arrived. Absolutely outstanding customer service! I will shop here again and recommended this seller with out hesitation.

Second, now that I have received the 'Flint Stones,' I have put them to the test with my SAK Farmer Firesteel (knife - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXqck4YIbI8). The stones struck showers of sparks of the carbon rod on my knife, igniting char cloth with the first strike. I tested several more times and had ignition on the first or second strike. The great thing about the stones provided is that they are not small 'flakes,' they are of a good size; so that you can do some fine napping when dulled from striking, to bring back a sharp edge over and over again to ensure good sparks for many fires. I also purchased a couple of Emberlit Steel Strikers intended as a gifts to go with some of the stones and they were as advertised, well made with a good fit and finish. I am looking forward to seeing both the strikers and stones being used this spring/summer over many camping trips.
