Great backpacking stove

The Fire ant is in my opinion perfect for bike camping, hammock camping, stealth camping, or through hiking . It was a gift from my wife a few years ago. I use the "spirit" burner when everything's wet, I don't want ashes and smoke, or I'm just being lazy. Normally I use sticks and bark, when you are cooking have a nice pile of sticks ready before you start out because they're smaller size you'll need more of them. No worries actually It cuts the amount of work you're doing, because you wont have to process large pieces of wood it's on the floor and you can break it by hand easily. I see now they sell a grilling grate I made one out of stainless steel sheet metal to fit the bag the fire ant comes in. I can grill a burger or chicken breast no problem. For stealthy camping just use a regular Trangia "spirit" burner, it works perfectly almost no light or smoke. Don't get a mini one off amazon. I just saw aliexpress has an aluminum one I don't know if those will fit. I don't use solid fuel tabs but once I used a gob of pine sap just to try it on the little solid fuel tray that comes with it, I used the tray to scrape the sap off the tree (once I used the tray to get sparks from a ferro rod) and it burnt for a long time and makes a lot of smoke. I burnt it clean in the fire so I wouldn't get sap everywhere. Overall it gets the job done in many different ways, has solid construction and is durable and lightweight.

Unbelievable Quality

This is my second stove from Emberlit. My first was the Original UL titanium which is a fantastic stove. I was so impressed with it that I had to have the Fire Ant. I chose the Stainless Steel version. I use mostly alcohol burners for convenience and paired the Fire Ant with a small Toaks Siphon burner. An inverted metal jar lid raises it closer to the pot. Let me say first that this stove is a “minimalist dream”. It may be small but is very functional. Do not let its diminutive size discourage you. It’s so stable in its design that I could use several size pots without having concerns of tipping over (up to1-liter). The stove locks up tight and is easy to assemble. I have a lot of wind at times and ordered an extra panel to go in place of the door panel. More fire funnels toward your pot. Works like a charm and decreases boiling time. Very well made and functional piece of equipment. I’m going to order it in titanium for my wife to use!
