Trangia spirit burners really are nice. But they don't work without some sort of pot stand. As with anything involving fire sensible precaution is required. Burning things are inherently dangerous! Make sure to test your cooking vessel on the stand for stability before lighting it up. Use only on a level fireproof surface in a well ventilated area. Do not overload the stand with an excessively heavy cooking vessel and contents. Note that the stand and burner will be hot for a period after the flame is extinguished. Also your pot will be hot... I'm ashamed to admit I burned my finger on the bail of my cooking pot while shooting some video of burner stand in action.
